Guess her father told her so little he didn't even mention how it was her mother that abandoned and gave her to him

Lajos may be a horrible person, but Nia's mother was just as bad. Nia even mentions in an early page that her mother abandoned her, so SHE KNOWS her mother gave her up. Why she's so sad over someone who abandoned her, I don't know. Her dad's a jerk, but at least he CARED enough to take her in instead of dumping her on some other mortal family or leaving her in the Falling Lands with demons and such.

@Lara: if I remember correctly Nia's mother gave her up because she was afarid of the powers her daughter possessed, other humans were disapproving and knew nia would not have a good life in the human world knowing she would be discriminated against. Thus why her mother gave her up to lajos. If I'm wrong sorry this is based off memory and I'm to lazy to go back and look.

@Lara: I mean if I had a baby that could randomly burst into flame I'd give her up too, no matter how much I loved her. It'd be way too dangerous, for both the mother and the child. And in the first scene of the comic we see Nia's mom explaining why shes giving Nia up. Nia's dangerous, shes almost hurt her mother, people are going to mistreat her out of fear. Her mom was very much concerned and sending her to the people best equipt to take care of her.

A lot of times people give up their children for good reasons

@Lara: women aren't always evil for giving up their children. at least Nia's mother had a pretty good excuse.
