Question for everyone! How would you feel about Sunfall books in the future? Each book would be a chapter (when the comic is longer chapters would be combined into larger books) and cost about $10. Answer seriously so we can know if we should get to work on bookmaking or wait.

@The_mad_one: I was making the judgement off what I've seen other webcomics charge for 25 chapter books, but a price lowering wouldn't be a bother (Though I couldn't drop it TOO low because no profit to be made then!) I'll talk with my cowriter and see if we can drop it to $7 or $5. Damn 'spensive book printing :x

maybe not chapters individually. But i would get full books.
Love the idea

If you decide to publish books of your work, I would buy copies. Even if your comics remain online, having a book feels excitingly different from staring at a screen. Anyway, love your work, and I am enjoying Nia's lessons on life. Wonder if she will meet her mother or other relatives.

I'd certainly be interested in buying them though that might take quite a while before I'm able to do that. Probably as the large books, not sure as individual chapters.

That sounds like a very human thing to do. Go around conquering and changing cultures. I can think of one country more notorious than others doing it now. 200 years ago it would've been us British (and the French with their smaller, little empire).... These days it's the US. The least you could do is spread the proper form of the English language :P

That lizard looks very similar to another lizard we've seen, in species anyway. It's not the same species as Samsol's is it?

I love your stuff, really but $10 a chapter is way too expensive.

Well, when I hear making others assimilate with what one culture thinks is right, I think of US. Sounds like a very US thing to do...but in reality all humans did that.

I wouldn't buy the printed copies, but I'll mention that $10 for 1 chapter seems expensive, seeing how your first chapter is 25 pages and your second is 26. That means there'll be about 15 sheets of paper per book, including the covers.

I understand that you'd like to get a somewhat sizable chunk of profit, since you won't be selling thousands of copies, but I'm not sure this is the way to get it as people might choose to stick with the free online version when it's too expensive.

I could be wrong, but I thought I'd share my thoughts.

Considering I bought every Paradox book that was ever offered, I think yes ^_^

I would purchase them even in chapters. Your chapters are long enough to warrant charging $10 for full-color books. Hell, that's CHEAP. You should see the prices most other full color books charge for a mere few pages.
The_mad_one, January 16th, 2014, 2:28 pm ( Reply )
$5 seems somewhat underpriced to me. Like I said, I could be wrong, other comments seem to like it for $10, so I don't think you should drop so much so fast.

Just think of my comment as a representative for people who don't buy physical webcomics to begin with. It looks expensive to me, but quite possibly not to people who like to buy these things.

But if anything, try dropping it to at least $9.99. :)

It would be great to see books of your stuff :). If you need to cut cost on printing (trust me I know how it feels) then have the cover pages being in color and the inside in black/white (since color costs more). That way you could still make a profit.

If you have a kinkos near you then printing in black/white or color cost 9-49 cents.

Shipping would be more expensive, but still doable...

overall, I think $10 would be good

My question is how the humans managed to stop fighting each other long enough to form a lasting evil empire.
Book suggestion.

Seeing as there are a few on here saying that $10 is too expensive I would suggest making a PDF available for a few less $$$ and then people can have them printed themselves.

I read a few online comics but have found that buying the printed copies is price prohibitive for me due to shipping, whereas if I had a PDF and the premission to print it out I can get it printed and bound here pretty cheaply. (got a mate that is a professional.)

Another option is to have more content per book. $10 for 25 pages seems like a bit much, but 2 chapters for $15 or thereabouts seems more reasonable.
Lazy-lil-ninja, January 16th, 2014, 11:47 pm ( Reply )
I think ten is a super reasonable price but I wouldn't go below eight if you still want to lower it make an ebook copy work bonus features for five but sell the book for ten
Onyx (Guest), January 17th, 2014, 6:25 am ( Reply )
buying books? Yes! (as long as you ship to foreign and odd lands - czech republic here)

But I have to add that I agree with one chapter probably being too short for a book (so far a chapter is like 25 pages?), think 2 or 3 chapters in a book would be great for 20$. Ofc I have very little idea how much do comic books costs or how does the business run in US :) (also, people dont be cheap and try to ripp off the author by wanting the price to be the lowest for her work possible - this comic is pretty hi-quality, drawing- and story-wise, in my eyes)
Ava (Guest), January 18th, 2014, 7:25 pm ( Reply )
I wouldn't buy books per chapter, but if you did make books of an average length (multiple chapters) I would definitely buy them. I definitely hope that you print them eventually!
Captain Scarlett (Guest), January 19th, 2014, 9:37 am ( Reply )
I'd buy the books, but maybe 1-3 chapters rather than one (for maybe $25?) because I have a habit of losing thin comics :/
